South Korean president Lee Myung-bak is set to hand over 5,000 gifts to his countrymen, it has been revealed.
The 66-year-old politician will give presents to lucky recipients, who will be selected from all levels of society, ahead of upcoming national holidays, KBS reports.
According to his office, the items consist of a range of products which originate from different regions within the country.
The gesture is said to be an attempt to enhance unity within the nation and to encourage the consumption of Korean agricultural products.
Another group of people lucky enough to be handed presents recently were the contestants in this year's Big Brother programme.
In recognition of housemate Mario's engagement to Lisa, the BB residents were gifted a champagne breakfast and then each was taken into the diary room to receive their own personalised offering.
Among the items on offer were an mp3 player, a vintage bottle of bubbly and a fast food meal.
